Hey-ho,off we go! Last year we finished mushrooming around the 18th of december, but we've gone on till now due to milder weather and perhaps luck and inspiration.
As we don't `traffic´in mushrooms (so many do in this neck of the woods), petrol costs can be high -but everyone digs in on food as well,so it doesn't work out too badly.
So in dec we were still getting tricholoma portentosum( the dingy one),tricholoma terreum(the grey one) and one of my favourites, cantharellus tubaeformis (a trumpet chanterelle).Ah, of course, plenty of hydnum repandum( hedgehog mushroom). We got these here in asturias,in leon and when i went to visit P in burgos.
Therefore freezing and drying was the order of the day so the house was a delicious mixture of mushroomy smells for a few weeks.
But winter still didn't want to come so we ventured out on more forays( with the snow-chains on board),normally Juan(recently retired and always raring to go) and myself.Well perhaps our last winter trip was the day before yesterday and what a day it was! Second part tomorrow.
