We left gijon at 8 am and 135kms on we were by a favourite pine-wood near
boal,here in asturias.
Black skies, 2 degees, icy winds, enough to freeze the b s off a brass monkey
and nobody in sight. But to our pleasant surprise we found the ground covered
with hydnums and in tip-top condition..
A couple of hours later with baskets full we made off to another wood, some 200
metres higher up the mountain and there we got a few trumpet chanterelle ,more
hedgehog mushrooms, until around 12-30, the heavens opened and down came hail,
sleet, rain and god knows what else.
So cutting the story short,we had a great meal for 12 euros and drove home in
atrocious conditions and decided enough until march when we'll begin with our
beloved morels.
Today,a rabbit stew with mushrooms, cooked in red wine and herbs and tomorrow
who
knows. Now down to freezing and drying and the good life.
Kenneth.
